What is the ancestral diet you might be asking yourself?
The ancestral diet is about consuming food which is in its purest form.
Meaning foods which are refined and unprocessed.
This diet or liveit as I like to call it has been around for thousandths of years it is the original diet of cavemen and our actual ancestors.
The ancestral diet includes meat obtained from grass fed wild animals, pastured chicken and eggs and wild seafood combined with organic fruits and veggies.
It is a seasonal diet which involves lots of rich flavors, colors, spices and herbs which provide maximum nutrients and healing for the body.
The diet is also based on fresh herbs, plants and foods high in protein, fats and oils.
When one chooses to engage in the liveit- it means he or she refrains from consuming foods which are processed or preserved with salt, dyes and chemicals.
The purpose of the diet is to partake in foods in their original form, preferably eating raw foods or foods which require minimal cooking.
The ancestral liveit requires not indulging in modern foods. It requires reprising the foods our families ate based on traditional heritage.
In this liveit- Foods such as sugar, pseudo meats and processed food products, including canned goods and frozen foods are disregarded.
The ancestral diet promotes consuming whole foods.
The diet or liveit has been around for generations. It requires being mindful and vigilant about food consumption.
What exactly is the ancestral diet?
It includes
-fermented foods
-raw dairy
-butter
-lard
-organic fruits and vegetables
Foods which are obtained from farmer’s markets and products which are grown naturally without any harmful pesticides. It also includes non-gmo foods.
It requires purchasing foods which are in season- FRESH Foods-
Foods which have not been refrigerated for long periods of time or processed.
Foods which did not travel for long distances in order to get to our tables.
What are the benefits of the Ancestral liveit diet?
-Less obesity
-Improved digestion
-minimal allergies
-longevity
-increased energy
-Disease Prevention
-Less cardiovascular ailments due to consuming which are not chemically altered or preserved.
IF you are interested in switching to the ancestral liveit, first start off by enrolling in a food buying club from your local organic farmer or green grocer.
-Buy meats which are organic and have not been treated with dyes or antibiotics.
-Refrain from buying or eating junk food
-Keep meals simple (KMS)
For instance, meat and potatoes, fish and vegetables or perhaps a nice, colorful salad with seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Consuming the foods of our ancestors may greatly improve our health. It is also keeping family traditions alive and well! It all boils down to epigenetics.
